India Launches AYUSH Academic Chairs in 5 Countries to Promote Traditional Medicine Globally

The objective of the scheme are to promote and strengthen awareness and interest about AYUSH Systems of Medicine at international level, to facilitate International promotion, development and recognition of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Homoeopathy, to foster interaction of stakeholders and market development of AYUSH at international level, to support international exchange of experts and information for promotion and propagation of AYUSH systems, to give boost to AYUSH products/ services / education/ research/ training globally, and to promote academics and research through establishment of AYUSH Academic Chairs in foreign countries.
Under this scheme the Ministry provides support to Indian AYUSH drug Manufacturers/ Ayush Service providers to give boost to the export of AYUSH products and services; facilitates the International promotion, development and recognition of AYUSH systems of medicine; foster interaction of stakeholders and market development of AYUSH at international level; promote academics and research through the establishment of AYUSH Academic Chairs in foreign countries and holding training workshop/symposiums for promoting and strengthening awareness and interest about AYUSH Systems of Medicine at international level.

National Institute of Siddha Sets Guinness Record

The National Institute of Siddha (NIS) in Chennai has achieved a remarkable milestone by setting a Guinness World Record for providing Varman therapy to 567 individuals at the same time. This historic event took place on the NIS campus in Tambura and highlights the increasing recognition of Siddha medicine. Siddha, a traditional Indian healing system, is known for its non-invasive and drug-free therapeutic methods. The event not only showcased the effectiveness of Varman therapy but also emphasized the growing interest in traditional healing practices.
A Historic Achievement in Siddha Medicine
The event featured 567 trained Varman s, or Varman healers, who simultaneously provided therapy to 567 participants. This impressive display underscored the therapeutic reach and effectiveness of Varman therapy, a unique aspect of Siddha medicine. The achievement of this Guinness World Record is significant, as it demonstrates the potential of Siddha medicine to address various health issues. The Union State Minister of Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of NIS in a written message, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in promoting traditional healing systems.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, congratulated the NIS team for their historic accomplishment. He emphasized that this event is not merely about winning an award; it is about raising awareness among younger generations. Kotecha noted that understanding the science and value behind traditional practices is crucial for their continued relevance. He also mentioned that the Siddha system of medicine is gaining significant attention both globally and within India, and the NIS is committed to sustaining this momentum.


Six-day CME programmer for naturopathy and yoga teachers begins at Moodbidri

A six-day national-level Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmer for naturopathy and yoga teachers being organized by Alva’s College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences was inaugurated on Thursday at the college campus in Moodbidri.
Speaking after the inauguration, K. Satya Lakshmi, director of National Institute of Naturopathy, Pune, Ministry of AYUSH, lauded the initiative of Alva’s Naturopathy College. She said: “In this ever-evolving world, teachers must embrace change and adapt to emerging technologies. CME programmers like this are crucial for their development.”
Ramachandra Shetty, director of Development and Research at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, said: “In today’s tsunami of information, teachers must ask themselves why students should attend classes. This self-reflection can transform classrooms into hubs of wisdom.”
