Dental 3D Printing Devices Market to Hit Valuation of US$ 50.10 Billion By 2033 | Material Advancements Propel Next-Generation Dental 3D Printing For Enhanced Clinical Efficiency Says Astute Analytica

2024-12-30 - 2024-12

From swift production times to energy-efficient workflows, dental 3d printing devices offer compelling advantages for clinics, labs, and patients alike. As global dental professionals gain expertise in 3D printing, we can anticipate even more transformative updates that will solidify its position as a cornerstone of modern oral care

New Delhi, Dec. 30, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The global dental 3D printing devices market is projected to hit the market valuation of US$ 50.10 billion by 2033 from US$ 10.50 billion in 2024 at a CAGR of 18.96% during the forecast period 2025–2033.

Dental 3D printing devices are revolutionizing oral healthcare with unprecedented precision and agility. These devices help craft customized crowns, bridges, surgical guides, and dental implants while significantly reducing turnaround times. Today, dental 3D printing amounts to more than a mere trend in 2023—it is a critical pillar of contemporary dentistry. Multiple manufacturers, such as Formlabs with its Form 3B series, are enabling clinics to produce highly accurate and patient-specific restorations in under a day. For instance, reputable labs like California’s Glidewell Laboratories have integrated over 40 industrial-grade printers to expedite crown manufacturing. Meanwhile, Carbon’s M2 printer employs Digital Light Synthesis for ultra-fast curing times, marking a major leap forward in prosthetic production speed.

According to a recent technology update from the International Dental Show (IDS) in Cologne, 15 new resin-based printers specifically geared toward orthodontic aligners were launched in the first half of 2023. In Asia dental 3D printing devices market, over 2,000 clinics have reported adopting specialized 3D printing workflows for same-day implant services. Stratasys, with its J5 DentaJet, has delivered more than 800 units worldwide, each capable of printing multi-color, multi-material dental appliances in a single run. In addition, the FDA has cleared 24 new biocompatible printing materials that suit everything from surgical guides to dentures. Across Europe, more than 60 dental organizations now actively train staff on in-house 3D printing techniques, further demonstrating its growing importance.

These technological innovations do far more than just speed up production. They allow for intricate designs—such as bridging implants and advanced prosthetics—once deemed too complex or time-consuming. With direct chairside applications, practitioners can now fabricate ultra-personalized restorations while the patient waits. By harnessing cutting-edge devices and validated printing materials, dental professionals can confidently deliver results that align with exact oral anatomies. Consequently, 3D printing is setting new standards for clinical excellence, dramatically reducing wait times, and paving the way for truly patient-centric dentistry.

MP reflects on 2024 as federal dental plan helps thousands in Bay–Superior North access care for first time

2025-01-05 - 2025-01

The Canadian Dental Care Plan is a game-changer for some communities.

Thousands of people in Thunder Bay-Superior North “are getting dental care for the first time” in decades thanks to the federal program that started earlier this year, Patty Hajdu, Member of Parliament and federal cabinet minister of Indigenous services since 2021, said in hindsight of 2024.

In a year-end interview with Dougall Media, Hajdu, who also serves as the member of Parliament for Thunder Bay—Superior North, highlighted the Canadian Dental Care Plan as one of the government’s key accomplishments, emphasizing its impact on communities.

“The Canadian Dental Care Plan is a great example of something that I think is producing results for people right here in our riding,” Hajdu said.

While acknowledging that adoption took time, Hajdu reported widespread participation from dental professionals.

“What we’re seeing is probably close to 85 per cent of dentists across the country are now accepting the Canadian Dental Care Plan,” she said.

The program is designed to help eligible Canadians access affordable oral health care, addressing a critical gap in the health-care system. With growing participation from dental practitioners, Hajdu expressed optimism about the program’s future and its continued ability to meet the needs of underserved populations.

Looking ahead to 2025, Hajdu wants to see her First Nation’s drinking water and wastewater legislation pass into law.

When dentists become cosmetic dentists and hair transplant experts!

2025-01-07 - 2025-01

While dental education (BDS/MDS) has remained the same, in the last few years, the treatment aspect of dental health has witnessed a sea change

Hyderabad: In a worrying sign that challenges dental education and dentistry as a profession, the traditional dentists in Hyderabad, who used to take care of your basic dental needs at affordable costs, are becoming a rare commodity. They are transforming into fancy cosmetic dentists, facial aesthetic specialists and hair transplant and treatment experts, with no cap on how much they can charge from patients.

While dental education (BDS/MDS) has remained the same, in the last few years, the treatment aspect of dental health has witnessed a sea change. Gone are the days when removing the troubled teeth was thought of as treatment. Nowadays, the advent of numerous materials, equipment and tools related to dentistry has shifted the focus from dental health to beautification and cosmetic enhancement.

Basic procedures like scraping, cleaning to remove dirt, stains and whitening of teeth, adjusting crooked teeth have been rebranded as beauty enhancement services and are now offered at exorbitant rates by cosmetic dentists.

Some dentists have even taken a step further and with the same BDS/MDS qualification, turned into hair transplant and hair-fall treatment experts, antagonizing associations representing dermatologists.

Terming such tactics and practices by BDS/MDS qualified doctors as unethical, a few days ago, the Karnataka State Dental Council issued notices, directing them to practice ethics/ rules and avoid practicing facial aesthetic treatments and hair transplants. The dental body in Karnataka made it clear that if dentists do not follow ethical rules, then they will lose their registrations.

Secretary, Indian Dental Association, Deccan, Dr Ala Srikanth believes that rampant permissions to open new dental colleges more than the requirement, heavy influence of manufacturers of dental equipment and products and surreal competition among dentists to grab patients are some factors for the present mess.

Although dental education has continued to remain traditional, manufacturers of dental equipment, materials and tools have started to dictate who treatment is administered to patients, Dr Srikanth believes.

“BDS and MDS teaching remains the same. A simple wire treatment for teeth to keep them in a desirable position has now become an AI-powered technology. It is the market forces, dental technology companies and the pressure to retain customers that are driving dentists to become cosmetic dentists. There is absolutely no regulation,” Dr Srikanth laments.

Telangana: PG dental, medical students request govt to provide relief from fee hike in private institutions

2025-01-07 - 2025-01

The association urged the State government to repeal GO 107, which was released last year, hiking the annual tuition fee for dental and PG medical seats in private medical and dental institutions

Hyderabad: Dental and medical students aspiring for specialty PG seats in private colleges in Telangana on Tuesday requested the State government’s intervention to provide relief from fee hike in private institutions.

“The dental and medical students of Telangana State urge the State government to cancel/repeal the Government Orders (GOs) related to fee hike in private medical and dental health care establishments,” national president, All India Dental Student and Surgeons Association, Dr Md Manzur Ahmed, said.

The association urged the State government to repeal GO 107, which was released last year, hiking the annual tuition fee for dental and PG medical seats in private medical and dental institutions.

“For PG medical seats, the annual tuition fee for Category A and B in private medical colleges in Telangana ranges between Rs 7,75, 000 (Category A) and Rs Rs 24 lakh. At private dental colleges, the PG medical seat range between Rs 7, 75, 000 and Rs 24,00,000. The huge medical college fee in dental and medical PG is a heavy burden on the families,” Dr Manzur said.

He also requested the State government to mandate stipends for PG dental students in private dental colleges. Such a provision would significantly alleviate the financial burden on students allowing them to focus on their education and professional development, he added.

How Justin Trudeau’s resignation could affect the future of the Canadian Dental Care Plan

2025-01-15 - 2025-01

Proroguing Parliament until late March will have an impact. While existing spending for the CDCP will continue, the supplementary estimates tabled last fall that were waiting for parliamentary approval — about $317 million and $1.5 million respectively in new spending for Health Canada and Statistics Canada — will now be pushed to when Parliament reconvenes.

At that point, the government will face an automatic confidence vote and, if the government falls, the new spending will be lost at least for the short term as Canada moves into an election campaign.

In the unlikely scenario that the current government remains in power after Parliament resumes, it will be under a new leader following the March 9 Liberal leadership convention. That person might have a different vision for the CDCP or for new spending overall.

A prime minister’s resignation can foster a re-examination of policies and programs. With that in mind, we’ve outlined some possible scenarios that include what a new Liberal leader might do, or a new Conservative government if the Conservatives win a majority government as public opinion polls suggest.

1) Keep CDCP as is
This is arguably unlikely given the natural tendency for a new leader or government to reshape existing policy or programs in their image. Maintaining the status quo is an option, though, as programs like the CDCP generally have a built-in review period, so a new government could wait for such a review to take place and then consider changes moving forward. A new government will likely have other priorities to address, and choose to leave the CDCP to a later date.

2) Get rid of it
This is the starkest option. In this regard, the CDCP’s potentially escalating costs may be its greatest existential risk. For instance, in 2022, the federal budget proposed $5.3 billion over five years and $1.7 billion ongoing for the CDCP. In 2023, it was $13 billion over five years and $4.4 billion ongoing.

Some also point to the risks the CDCP holds for the employer-sponsored dental benefits market that the majority of Canadians access for care. A 2023 technical brief developed by Canada’s dental associations notes that if employers walk away from these benefits en masse, CDCP costs could increase by $3.5 billion by 2025.

At the low end of the brief’s estimates, a 10 per cent “de-insurance” risk could add $385 million by 2025. While these numbers could be inflated to prove a political point, costs will certainly be a concern for any new decision-maker when it comes to the CDCP.

There is also a political calculus. Governments tend to “impose losses,” such as program cuts, early on in their mandates. Yet this is balanced against the political risks of imposing losses in relation to health care, as well as the old adage that once you give something to someone, it’s hard to take it back.

In this light, scrapping the CDCP seems to be an extreme decision, especially as it targets low- and middle-income Canadians durin

Review
Brokerages have recommended subscribing to Laxmi Dental Ltd's IPO for the long term, citing its strong market position and growth potential despite high valuations.

Anand Rathi: The brokerage noted that the IPO, priced at ?428 per share, values the company at ?23,522 million with a P/E ratio of 64.6x based on FY25 projected earnings. While the valuation is aggressive, Laxmi Dental's leadership as one of India's top two dental laboratories by revenue and its status as a leading dental product exporter make it attractive.
