Gerardo Guillen
Gerardo Guillen is currently the Director of Biomedical Research at the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), Havana, Cuba. He received his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Master's in Chemistry in 1986 from I.I. Mechnikov University, Odessa, and his doctorate in Biological Sciences in 1995 from the University of Havana.
His research focuses on prophylactic and therapeutic vaccine development against hepatitis, dengue, meningitis, whooping cough, cancer, and COVID-19; and drug development.
Dr. Guillen is a Professor at the University of Havana and the Latin American School of Medicine. He has published 265 papers and 62 patents. He has been awarded the Biology Award from the TWAS, the Annual Award from the Cuban Society of Chemistry, and the Gold Medal for the Abdala vaccine patent granted by WIPO.

Service with a focus on vaccination projects, e.g. vaccination education in schools and
increasing vaccination rates through vaccination advice and on-site vaccination. For this he
was awarded the Hufeland Prize 2012.
Since 2013 at the University Hospital Rechts der Isar, Munich: Head of the vaccination
/yellow fever vaccination center, teaching position “Prevention through vaccination” and
conducting vaccination studies with the main focus on Hepatitis B and SARS-CoV2.
Member of the State Vaccination Working Group (LAGI) in Bavaria,
the National Verification Committee (NVC) for the elimination of measles/rubella in Austria
and the Immunization Commission of the Society for Virology.

Ediane Batista Silva
Ediane Silva studied Veterinary Medicine at the Federal University of Goias, Brazil and has a doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine. Since 2021 she is a senior scientist at ARS FADRU as Veterinary Medical Officer (Clinical of African Swine Fever and Classical Swine Fever Program). She is also responsible for coordinate FADRU science transition from PIADC to NBAF. Ediane Silva has more than 20 years of experience working with infectious diasease and the last 8 years she has been dedicated to work with transboundry viruses under high containment conditions (BSL-3), including animal experiment and pathogenesis of food-and-mouth disease. Currently, her research focusses on clinical studies of ASF/CSF and undestanding ASF/CSF host immune response to vaccine candidates.
